(born January 15, 1934) is an Israeli archeologist and an expert, specializing in the research of the Late First Temple period (Assyrian Age), the Babylonian period and the Persian period Persian Empire,. A professor Emeritus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he is a prolific author and has been engaged in scientific and popular writing and editing in the field of archeology.
