Alexander "Alex" Trachtenberg (1884–1966) was an American publisher of radical political books and pamphlets and activist in the Socialist Party of America and later the Communist Party USA. Trachtenberg is best remembered as a founder and manager of International Publishers of New York, part of the publishing arm of the American communist movement for over eight decades, as well as member of the CPUSA's Central Control Committee. During the period of McCarthyism in America, Trachtenberg was twice subject to prosecution under the Smith Act — convictions which were ultimately overturned by the US Circuit Court of Appeals in 1958.
