Jo Marpert (Cissy Jensen) was the youngest daughter of Fritzjohf and Mable Jensen. With her two older sisters, she spent her childhood in an unusual setting - the Waialua Sugar Plantation on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. WWII started on December 7, 1941, ending this idyllic lifestyle. The following years under martial law were chaotic and families suffered from uncertain futures and alcohol abuse. Cissy struggled through high school while attending USO dances and parties. Servicemen were everywhere. She attended the University of Hawaii and then married "the boy next door." Cissy (now Jo Marpert) lives in Redmond, Washington, the sole survivor of her generation. She lives a busy life, does her own yard work and at the age of 80, just put away her skis.
