Furious Fables is a series of ten short fictitious narratives intended to help children reflect upon their own styles of dealing with anger through the exploration of how other characters manage aggression. The Fables explore the various ways in which humans typically express anger and the resulting consequences or rewards. This method of storytelling allows children to escape into fantasy while simultaneously considering alternative ways of coping. The ten fables explore the issues of how anger impacts fighting, bossiness, frequent illness, acting out, withdrawal, overeating, refusing to work, blaming others, friendship disputes, and grieving. It is recommended that parents read the stories aloud to children who are in the elementary grades and follow with the questions for discussion. This encourages a discussion of the topic and creates a forum for further discussion.
