With international concern growing over the potential impacts of climate change, the partners sought common ground among business and environmental interests to develop a rational policy of this vital issue. They evaluated a range of future scenarios for greenhouse gas emission and carbon sequestration; they considered the possible effects of new technologies, especially for renewable energy sources, conservation tillage, and alternative fuel vehicles; and they considered economic, managerial, and legal barriers to climate-friendly technical advances. Following a comprehensive survey of their own diverse efforts to protect the earth's climate, the four organizations describe the joint program of action they will focus on in the future.
