Dick Burdette is a former roving human interest columnist for The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel The Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader. As a general assignment and investigative reporter at The Sentinel, he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and as a columnist, for the Ernie Pyle Award, the nation's top prize for human interest writing. he also is the author of The Fabulous Waterloo Wonders, the story of the most famous high school basketball team in Ohio history, and Pockets Full Awry, a three-year investigation of an unsolved 1947 murder. He and his wife Judy live in Wellington, Colorado, where his is completing Little House on Bull Run, a collection of 39 stories set in 33 counties chronicling the changes that swept across Kentucky between the 1930s and 1960s.
