He traces the events leading up to a decision to choose war against a powerful enemy, rather than comfort and servitude. He describes the challenge of making a Continental Army from very little, and the struggle to live let alone fight. Then he takes us on to the presidency and attempts to pacify quarrels between Jefferson and Hamilton. Ford makes his contribution to Washington literature enjoyable to read, as well as historically significant.
