The mid fourteenth century. Escaping from the Black Death by ship, townspeople from England pass through a devastating storm to arrive at a destination they couldn't have imagined. There, they must reconstruct the life they have left behind them in their homeland. All is not well in their new environment. Rivalries, struggles for power and two contesting systems of order serve to drive the new community to the brink of war. Meanwhile, a mysterious force is lurking on the fringes of their existence, and it falls to the leader's young son, Edward, to combat the threat. But he may have to pay with his life. While old struggles continue, new dangers must be recognised and faced.
