Benet Fink, London, April 9. 1816 Failure of Ramsbottom, Newman, Ramsbottom & Co., Bankers, in which house his father was a partner. Decem·ber 14. Entered at Trinity College, Oxford. Called into residence the following June. 1818 May. Gained a Trinity Scholarship: this was his only academical distinction. 1820 Graduated B.A. but failed to gain Honours. 1822 April 12. Elected Fellow of Oriel College, "the turning-point of my life." 1824 J1tne 13.
