Nightingale, the most famous nurse in history, was awarded the Order of Merit by the Queen of England in 1907 for her contributions to medicine and work on behalf of British soldiers during the Crimean War. Kaplan's edition will also feature Cassandra, one of Nightingale's most important essays on women in Victorian society, and her correspondence.
