Book DescriptionIn 1884, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the property nature of labor declaring that "the property which every man has in his own labor, as it is the original foundation of all other property, so it is the most sacred and inviolable." Butthe author of this book charges that to allow for the greatest amount of tax to be collected from American workers, Congress in 1913 nullified this authority through the illegal exploitation of an apparent loophole in the U.S. Constitution's Sixteenth (or Income Tax) Amendment. He explains how this usurpation has led in our time to a denial that labor is property, to its classification under tax law as merely "behavior performed by human beings in exchange for compensation," to the further denial that a worker's labor is income-producing property and to a final, ensuing denial that labor is entitled to deductible expenses similar to those extended to income-producing property of a business.
