A Tale of War, Deception And Recovery. It all began for Bruce growing up gay in a small rural American town where he faced frequent bullying and prejudice. Then things got worse: he was drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam. Small town life and values ill prepared him for the atrocities of war as he was further traumatized by the emotional stress and by the sexual assault he experienced at the hands of a brother in arms. In Vietnam and after returning home he dealt with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and continued to ease his pain with alcohol. A journey toward survival, a devastating battle with alcoholism and a difficult life after war as a gay veteran give the author unique insight in politics, the war in Iraq and the discrimination minorities face every day.
