Smaller and plainer than Victorian houses, bungalows combined affordability withthe aesthetic sensibilities of the Arts and Crafts movement. They were also quite versatile, particularly with regard to their bedrooms. Open-air sleeping porches and space-saving "built-ins" allowed bungalow owners to convert unfinished or underutilizedareas of the house into sleeping quarters.
