Providing orders of battle and contrasting the forces’ strengths and weaknesses, the author shows how, despite the Germans triumph, the few days gained by the Red Army proved decisive when the Wehrmacht attack stalled at the gates of Moscow in the dead of winter, foreshadowing the end for the Germans.
