For example, ESTAT presents a random series of histograms and asks the student to eyeball-estimate the mean and standard deviation of each; ESTAT presents a random series of scatter diagrams and asks the student to eyeball-estimate the correlation coefficient of each; and ESTAT presents a random series of scatter diagrams and asks the student to eyeball-estimate each best-fitting regression line.
