What does or did the Asian economic miracle offer to women in Malaysia--a second generation newly industrializing country (NIC)? Representing a journey of some fifteen years, this anthology traces the changing position of Malaysian women as the country is transformed from an agrarian economy to an export-led industrialized and information technology based society, aspiring to lock itself into the global economy. It also attempts to link feminist theory and practice articulated in the nascent Malaysian women's movement as it responds to the key challenges confronting Malaysian women.
