Computers and computer networks are key technologies for supporting cooperative work. The primary goal of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) research is to transcend the boundaries of location and time to help groups overcome physical limitationsand enable distributed work to be done as readily as work done at the same location. This book presents selected papers by members of the Special Interest Group for Groupware of the Information Processing Society of Japan, which capture the state of the art of CSCW and groupware research in Japan.
