John Fisher (born 10 October 1937) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn in the VFL. A wingman, Fisher debuted for Hawthorn in 1957 but it took a couple of seasons before he became a regular in the side. He won the Gardiner Medal in 1958 for the best player in the VFL reserves competition. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
