Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Richard M. "Dick" Pirrie (6 June 1920 - 6 June 1944) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Son of Richard Pirrie and brother of Kevin Pirrie, he enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. He was the first Australian killed at the landings at Normandy on D-Day. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
