Russell Middlemiss (born 6 July 1929) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL during the early 1950s. Middlemiss was a half back flanker and was an important player in defence for Geelong in their back to back premiership triumphs. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
