He was the 1978 World Junior Champion and the 1982 Canadian bronze medalist. Coi also competed in pair skating; with partner Julie Mutchen, he was the 1974 Canadian novice bronze medalist. He died of AIDS in 1987. Figure skating is an Olympic sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform spins, jumps, footwork and other intricate and challenging moves on ice skates.
