Billy Orchard (9 August 1888 - 22 July 1965) was a player for the Geelong Football Club between 1906 and 1915. He captained the club for two seasons in 1914 and 1915. He was also playing coach in 1914. He was a field umpire in the VFL during the 1920s. Orchard was also an outstanding cricketer taking 264 wickets @ 12.6 between 1903-1936 in Geelong Cricket Association. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
