Ernest "Bung" Newling (born 26 June 1876, date of death unknown) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Newling, who was blind in one eye, played as a defender and follower. He arrived to the club from Geelong West. He was just the third Geelong player to appear in 150 league games, after Teddy Rankin and Henry Young. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
