Shanmugham Venkatesh (born 23 November 1977) is an Indian football player from Bangalore. He has been playing international matches representing India since the year 1997 in various age group (Under-19,Under -23 and Senior Team). He is one of the best midfield players in India. Venkatesh first started playing with his brother Dakshina Murthy for ADE ( Aeronautical Development Establishment). Initially he learned many aspects from his brother. When Venkatesh played for ITI ( Indian Telephone Industries) then veteran coach Krishnaji Rao who found and coached him. Venkatesh named as the "Player of the year"(2004-05) by the All India Football Federation. He is the first Bangalore player to get this award.
