Don Furness (born 9 November 1930) was a former Australian rules footballer who played his entire career with Fitzroy in the VFL during the 1950s. He was a left footer usually played as a centreman or in the wing. Furness was at his best in the mid-1950s where he won the Best and Fairest twice. He was also a VFL interstate representative. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions calleda??erroneouslya??AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
