Rolf Edling (born November 30, 1943) is a Swedish fencer and Olympic Champion. He competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where he won a gold medal in A©pA©e with the Swedish team. The A©pA©e (play /E?E?peE?/) is the modern derivative of the dueling sword, the smallsword (itself descended from the rapier, used in sport fencing). A?pA©e is French for "sword".As a thrusting weapon the A©pA©e is similar to a foil (compared to a sabre), but has a stiffer blade that is V-shaped in cross-section, has a larger bell guard, and is heavier. The technique however, is somewhat different, as there are no rules regarding priority and right of way. In addition, the entire body is a valid target area.
