He spent seven seasons in the North American Soccer League, seven seasons in the Major Indoor Soccer League and two in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. He also earned two caps with the U.S. national team in 1985. Gorsek signed with the Portland Timbers of the North American Soccer League in 1977 as a striker replacement player. He played three games that season, none in 1978 and only one in 1979. In 1980, he saw time in twelve games, but was traded to the San Diego Sockers.
