Since the creation of the National Wrestling Alliance in 1948, family members have been involved in all aspects of the industry. Although most connections are among wrestlers, there have been significant contributions from family members in managing, promoting, training and refereeing. According to this list, 32 pairs of brothers have wrestled together as a tag team; among them, one team has won the NWA World Tag Team Championship, five have won the WCW World Tag Team Championship and three have won the WWF/E World Tag Team Championship together. Brothers have also squared off against each other in singles competition, for example, Bret "The Hitman" Hart wrestled his brother Owen in a steel cage match for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
