This book is primarily concerned with the study of Literature and Environment. Nature and ecology in select British, American and Indian writings are explored in order to establish a mutually inclusive relationship between humanity and Nature. The book includes an overview of ecocriticism, ecofeminism and environmentalist movements. The book, at once, deals with a praxis of ecological theories propounded by William Reuckert, Karl Krober and Sheryll Glotfelty to British Pre-romantic and Romantic poets, viz. James Thomson,William Blake, William Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley and Keats and the "Big Three” American transcendentalists—Emerson, Fuller and Thoreau. Rabindranath Tagore, Tukdoji Maharaj and Arun Joshi from Indian side have also been explored from ecological perspective.
