Presently micro-finance along with an alternative source credit is also seen as an instrument to alleviate poverty by a large segment of literature. But while one segment of literature talks about the positive impact of micro-finance on poverty, another segment talks about the inability of the programme to alleviate poverty. This book is about an empirical study made in Nalbari District, Assam assuming that if the micro-finance programme is able to create some asset for the clients, then certainly it is contributing towards poverty alleviation.
