A romantic take on the classic science fiction novel Metropolis that dealt with the struggle between the classes and a rebuilt futuristic society. The entitled son of new world leader Jon Frederson empathizes with the commoners of his empire, forced to work beneath the new city. Freder falls in love with the beautiful Maria, the one chosen to empower the lower working classes and lead the revolt out of Underworld. With a revolution waiting to happen, Freder must try and stop the madman Rotwang from seeking revenge against his father while gaining his assistance to save his love Maria.
