Ray Huang received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Michigan and taught Chinese history at several American colleges and universities for sixteen years. He has published in China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Italy, and West Germany as well as the United States and has been a contributing author to the Cambridge History of China. 1587, A Year of No Significance has been translated into five languages and was nominated for an American Book Award in history.
