The Cambridge CAE Course prepares students thoroughly for the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English examination and, at the same time, helps them to improve their communication skills in English and their overall command of the language. In addition to the traditional emphasis at this level on skills development, the course focuses equally on areas such as pronunciation, vocabulary extension, functional language and style. The Cambridge CAE Course: Familiarises students with the demands of the CAE exam. The final section in each unit and three separate Revision Exam Practice units concentrate solely on CAE question formats and strategies. An 'Exam Tips' section at the end of the book offers practical hints from CAE examiners on how to approach the five different papers. Develops the various subskills that are particularly important at this level, such as reading for detail and understanding text structure. Has regular 'Grammar Reminder' and 'Grammar Analysis' sections which offer, respectively, a review of 'old' grammar and a look at structures which may be new at this level. Has a 'Ways of Learning' feature in each unit that encourages students to reflect on their approaches to learning and to exam preparation. Contains a wide variety of authentic reading texts and listening material on engaging and unusual topics. These, in turn, offer students ample stimulus for writing and speaking activities.
