This book features essentials of the English language, such as introducing oneself and asking basic questions. It also offers young readers an excellent opportunity to learn other more unusual vocabulary items as the story develops in its jungle setting. Each chapter is preceded by a picture dictionary which helps children understand some of the less common words, and sparks off pre-reading classroom discussions. Following each chapter is a multiple-choice reading comprehension, a ‘fun activity’ – such as join the dots, listen and match, colouring in and much more. There is also an acting activity which encourages even the shyest child to learn and speak English. The accompanying CD is of course, an essential prop for rehearsals.
