Lila Nova is a newly divorced New York City ad exec, weary of the seedy underside to her industry and the fact that her doorman sees her come home every night, alone. But one Saturday afternoon a chance encounter at the Union Square Greenmarket awakens new passion and she starts to feel the old Lila coming back. Out of that meeting comes an obsession that leads her to the East Village, and into a Laundromat where she meets the charismatic Armand. Alone in the Yucatan with a backpack of high heels and expensive shampoo, Lila is forced to learn more than she ever wanted to know about both the rainforest - and herself. Filled with plant mythology, Huichol shamans, orchid obsessives, scorpions, handsome Mexicans and flowers of every colour, Lila enters into world of mystery, adventure, and devastatingly seductive heat.
