In response to visible evidence of environmental damage and rising fuel prices on one hand and the impossibility of meeting the demand for water and energy faced by urban municipalities on the other, terms like ‘sustainable building’ or ‘green building’ are being popularized as an attempt to bring about awareness to the new field.
