Home- based industries in India are small scale enterprises, labour intensive and capital saving in nature. They are a solution generated by opportunity deprived (poor or uneducated) families for their living, and sometimes are an important instrument for the growth in the city, like Mumbai, Ludhiana and various other Indian cities, including Meerut of Uttar Pradesh. In Meerut city, HBI proves that a house is not only for residential purpose only but also serves as a production place and market place.
