Photodynamic disinfection (PDD) is a new field of study in the Dental Medicine that is still under development. Presently the Photodynamic inactivation of pathogenic cells – bacteria, fungi and tumor cells, is on experimental level of application. This book describes the efficiency of the Photodynamic method as a disinfection procedure in the Prosthetic Dentistry. It was evaluated by detailed in vitro and in vivo investigations. The results showed that PDD as a new procedure was more efficient and competitive to the conventional methods and can be successfully applied for disinfection of dental impressions and prosthetic constructions. Photodynamic disinfection appears to be an effective method for prevention of cross-contamination between patient, clinician and technician. This work can help other scientists in future researches for clinical application of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) in Dentistry.
