A cross-sectional study was undertaken to evaluate the standard of meat and meat products related to public health and food safety issues under Municipal corporation of Calcutta, both in supermarket and meat shops.An epidemiological study was undertaken to evaluate, whether the minimum requirement of public health and food safety issues have been met by the sellers of meat for human consumption or not? Bacteria were isolated from meat and meat products of zoonotic characters,which can be transmitted to human being during the consumption.Highly resistant E.coli O157 and other Extended spectrum Beta-Lactamase producing bacteria were isolated during the experiment.
