The early families of Grant and Pleasant Districts, like their Maryland and Pennsylvania neighbors, were among the first to endure the rigors of mountain life. The genealogy of some of these families--Christopher, Connor, Cunningham, King, Metheny, Ryan, Street, Thorpe, Walls, Wheeler, and Wolf, those mostly of early 19th-century provenance--is the basis of this book.
