Make way for Lucia is a series of novels written by E.F Benson. They feature hilarious incidents in the lives of upper-middle class people in the 1920s and '30s. The characters vie for social standing in an extremely snobby world. In the series the two main characters - sophisticated Lucia and frumpy Miss Mapp compete with each other and have to extricate themselves from a series of social disasters in comical style. The novels are: Queen Lucia (1920), Miss Mapp (1922), The Male Impersonator (a short story), Lucia in London (1927), Mapp and Lucia (1931), Lucia's Progress (1935) (published in the U.S. as The Worshipful Lucia), Trouble for Lucia (1939)
