Justin and Belinda get married and quite irregularly invite all of their friends along for their honeymoon. It is a cruise to England on the largest ship ever built-Colossus. On board are people with various problems and concerns such as a man seeking courage, a young man fighting the bottle, a wayward priest looking for the truth, a couple headed for divorce, a dying millionairess seeking one last moment of pleasure, a young doctor fleeing America after killing his terminally ill sister, a woman with her young son running from her murderous husband and many others. A young architect, Malcolm Winters, knows the ship is poorly designed and is vulnerable to a strong broadside wave but his warnings are ignored.
