The setting for Thee We Adore is rural Old Mexico, circa 1920, telling the story of a sheepherder Eduardo, his wife Clara and their three children, the youngest Benito, who is crippled. The two older children, Maria Josefina and Jesus are both active, bright children who love to play and sing, but Benito is never able to join in their games. The family attends church regularly and all pray that some way might be found that Benito can have surgery to fix his leg so that he can play with the other children. However, through their faith in God and love for Benito, the little boy is healed in a dramatic and beautiful miracle vision of Jesus Christ, an angel and all the company of Heaven. The book, Thee We Adore, has been 800 years in its writing, taking its name from a poem, Thee We Adore, written by St. Thomas Aquinas during his lifetime from 1225 to 1274 A.D.
