In Gene Therapy to Die for, a beginning epidemiologist at the NIH (National Institutes of Health) is left to decipher what his now dead boss had gotten them into. A Ukrainian mob boss was reaching halfway around the world to snuff out the chain of evidence that would ultimately lead back to him. The ruthless head of a large criminal organization didn't understand the science behind the death he was selling. After all, it had been dreamed up by a cancer researcher at the NCI (National Cancer Institute). The mob boss only knew that it was quickly making him rich far beyond anything he had ever imagined.
