Derek has lived a very sheltered life, after his dad died when Derek was four. After moving to the suburbs of Houston, Derek meets a beautiful young girl named Lindsy, who becomes his best friend. He also joins the high school wrestling team. He makes many friends but has to face a bully in school. Ultimately, Derek begins to discover unusual strength. He saves a little girl from getting hit by a car. He stops a purse thief at the mall. He beats the school bully while at wrestling practice. He saves his step-dad from being crushed by his car. Derek is confused and frightened because he has no idea what is happening to him. He eventually learns the secret behind his incredible strength.
