"Operation escape is now in effect!" Gus interrupted, whispering in Marie's ear. "Hurry and get ready." He pulled her to a seated position. "Dad's drunk again?" she asked, her fear evident in the tightness of her tone. She flung off her blankets, her long legs sliding to the side of the bed. "Yea, we gotta get outta here. I don't want anyone hurt like last time." Gus, Marie, and Matthew Murphy escape their father and end up in the colorful country of Iamadore. There live the Tomtoms, creatures shaped like fuzzballs with rainbow colored eyes and enough love to fill the entire world. Or do they? Gus doesn't believe it.
