For over thirty years I have believed that the Lord's Prayer was not given as a prayer to be quoted daily or weekly. I also do not believe it is to serve as a model prayer, because it is not a prayer. However, the terms ""Lord's Prayer"" and ""model prayer"" are used in this work since most Christians will understand the context in which they are used. This work in no way is intended to demean one's use of the Lord's Prayer. My previous congregation quoted it each week, as does my current congregation - a span of sixteen years. The aim of this work is to encourage the reader to look at the Lord's Prayer from a new perspective and, when finished reading, think ""That is a possibility. I am going to think about that some more.""
