Having just changed lovers, again, orthopedist Dr. Soledad (So-le) del Valle tires quickly of the men in her life. Sole's family barely survived the Spanish Civil War. He father teaches her to be strong and above all else let no one control you. She does not want a husband, but she could use a male 'wife'. Prof. Aaron Goodlander is devoted to his father, Sam, a strong caring father who desperately wants grandchildren before he dies. While at the hospital to address Sam's deteriorating health Aaron meets the strong willed Dr. del Valle. Sole auditions Aaron to be 'her wife'. He is cerebral and earnest. She is beautiful and willful. Wanting children, they get married; but she warns him, "I will change for no man." Despite enjoying their two children and a good life, Aaron must come to terms with Sole's promiscuity. Her affairs continue with tragic consequences. Aaron must deal with his jealousy, amidst scandals and death. Sexual harassment, suicide, wrongful death and revenge unfold...
