At last, Pedro and Ludi Perez have a suburban residence where their precious baby daughter can grow up, far from the troubled inner city where they were raised. But there is a mysterious pendant engraved with strange lettering, which fell at their feet during a thunderstorm. As a traffic accident threatens to lead to the loss of the Perez family's new home, Pedro takes peculiar solace from a neighbor's mystical attempts to seek the pendant's origin. But he has to wonder: Is she really channeling spirits from on board a spacecraft sixty years in the future, answering to an extraterrestrial distress call? Or is this some bizarre act meant to distract her audience from their mounting worries?
