On a newborn Earth it's still a battle for survival. On an overpopulated Earth, a Groupmind spontaneously arises, encompassing everyone on the planet except a small percentage of people. Ruthlessly culled from the herd, they must struggle to survive in this hellish new world. One is Father Dietz, who seeks to destroy the newborn entity, and another is Mizra, an embittered neurosurgeon, who has a change of heart.
